This is the handout that elaborates Gagne 9 Events of Instructions.
1. Gaining Attention
= there are many ways to attract students attention.
= we should tackle their interests
= we should dig up their curiosity
These should stimulate and maintain their motivation.
2. Inform the Learners of the Objectives
= this is when we emphasize what is/are expected to be performed by them in terms of knowledge/skills
= the objectives also will help them to focus on specific skills which will keep them on track and stay on target.
3. Stimulating Recall of Prerequisite Learned Capabilities
= learners must have prior knowledge in order new learning to be successful.
4. Presenting the Stimulus Material
= Designer should display or show related and appropriate stimulus before hand.
= We can facilitate essential features by bold, underline, highlight, italic, resize etc.
= In the learning of concepts and rules, there are 2 approaches either Inductive vs. Deductive.
e.g. we can teach rules first followed by examples or vice versa.
5. Providing Learning Guidance
6. Eliciting Performance
7.Providing Feedback
8. Assessing performance
9. Enhancing Retention and Transfer
